I've heard of Pig-on-the-spit, but this is some seriously huge roast beef! There's a company in Japan that does powder snow tours of the Hakkodo Mountains, and on October 1st and 2nd, they hold a "Beef and Garlic Festival, A Real Texas BBQ deep in the heart of Aomori!". It looks pretty serious!

Each October the main event at the festival is the Takko cows which are spit-roasted whole over charcoal fires and seasoned with specially produced garlic to enhance the flavor. Taking place at the 2-2-9 DOME (pronounced ni-ni-ku, the same word for garlic in Japanese) just at the bottom of the ski lift, the indoor and outdoor venues means no matter what the weather brings, everyone can remain warm and dry!
