Nicole over at Slashfood blogged about this the other day... It's the Worlds Largest S'more, created by First Landing State Park to celebrate the Virginia State Park system's 70th anniversary! The crazy thing is, apparently the Guinness Book of Records no longer has this "Category" of world record... I wonder if that means sites like ours will be the officiators of such supersized creations?

To celebrate the Virginia State Park system's 70th anniversary, First Landing State Park on June 17, 2006, set a new record for the world's largest s'more - 1,936 square feet. This eclipses the previous record of 1,600 square feet. It took 55,000 graham crackers, 40,000 marshmallows and 8,000 chocolate bars to pull it off.

The event was sponsored by Reserve America, Virginia State Park's online reservations partner, which coordinated donation of the ingredients. More than 1,000 volunteers, including scout troops, civic groups and park neighbors, arrived at 10:30 a.m. to create the gargantuan s'more.
The crew finished building the tasty Guiness Book of World Records treat, assembled on 97 eight-foot tables, at 2:41 p.m. DCR's park staff thanks the sponsors and First Landing volunteers for for making the event so successful.
DCR Director Joseph Maroon (l) gives CCC honoree Norman Claiborne (r) a certificate of appreciation.
