Ok, so it's not quite a meatcake, but looks an awful lot like one. It's the Hamburglar cake, and one lucky 4 year old got it made for his 4th birthday! A very tasty looking cake that looks like a burger.

First step in making the hamburger cake for Zack's 4th birthday...I had to mix milk chocolate frosting, orange paste food coloring and yellow paste food coloring to get the "bun" color.

Next time, I'll use a wider, shallower bowl to bake this. Ha! What am I saying? NEXT time?

Single cake layer with chocolate fudge frosting and smashed-up chocolate graham crackers. Very authentic-looking meat.

These are jellied spearmint leaves rolled flat to look like lettuce.

Bottom Bun with Patty

Not real mustard - just vanilla frosting with yellow food coloring.

"Mustard" on Patty Layer

These were fun to make! I added yellow and red food color to vanilla frosting and coated six sugar cookies to look like tomatoes.

Almost Done!

What's wrong here? Something doesn't look quite right....oh man, that poor burger has a serious case of exophthalmos going on. Time to do some fixing.

Much better.

The only way to keep a giant hamburger cake fresh overnight is to plop a laundry basket on top of it and wrap the laundry basket with aluminum foil.

This is me preparing to make sweet, sweet love to my offset spatula. Thanks, baby.
