I took the plunge today and ate my first 1+ lb burger at the wonderful restaurant Cheeburger Cheeburger. Sadly I was unable to find anybody there ( 15 minutes till close ) with a digital camera to document the attempt. In any case, my polaroid is now up on the wall of fame, which isn't that extensive since it is a new location, but I digress...

The 1lb Cheeburger Cheeburger Challenge (Not actual burger that was eaten)

The burger itself, as Skinnyboy originally photographed, is 20 ounces of prime beef pre-cooked, which turns out to be about 17 ounces after they grill it. I ordered mine with lettuce, tomato, cheddar, pickles, grilled onions, and steak sauce on the side. The burger itself was surprisingly tasty and well cooked for such a large patty, and I chowed through it in no more than five minutes. The most trying part of the experience came in the bun. Between 20 ounces of beef and grill oil and sweaty cheese that covered the entire top of the burger, it was like having to eat an oversized grilled cheese sandwich. I know that many people would relish this, but one of the only foods that I will avoid at all costs is, you guessed it, grilled cheese. I went through two refills of diet-pepsi to finish the soggy, cheese permeated bun. I know that this pales in comparison to most of anything posted on the site, but I figured that everybody has to start somewhere :)

Best of luck and good eating,
Matt Fleet (alias: Fival)
