Yeah.. made this last night. Definitely English food - very bland, the batter is thick and eggy. I'm thinking of using pancake batter instead next time.

oh piss off with that 'english food' sh*t. Batter is bland by nature which is why you serve it smothered with gravy. Of course its going to taste like crap if you eat it dry.

lovely thick gravy is essential with toad in the hole. i prefer onion gravy :)

making yorkshire pudding is an art passed down through generations. Its light fluffy and perfect with gravy because its sposed to be slightly malted. Its definitely not as simple as chucking batter over sausages. This recipe is wasted on novices. Pancake batter? somone wants to lock you in a padded room.
