The Personal Computer Deep Fryer (Fake?)

Got a PC, but forgot to buy a Deep Fryer for that weekend party? Fear not! There is a solution! Just grab that high-end PC, stick it in a bucket, fill said bucket with oil, and play a CPU intensive game for a little while. In no time, your fryer oil will be hot enough to cook you some tasty treats! Great for the time between frags...

In picture 4 it looks as though there is a hot plate under the foil container!

Cute, but B**L S**T

It's obviously a slot-1 mobo; closer inspection reveals it's an ASUS P2L97. A pentium II dissipates 25 watts or less!!! It's not going to heat the oil significantly, let alone to the 400 or so degrees of a fryer. Nor would it continue to function anywhere near that temp!

you know computers actually have the processor's temp more than enough to fry an egg a couple thousand if you screw all that crap covering it and go directly onto it

Yeah, I think you guys are right. That sure does look like a hotplate sitting under that container, and as for a Pentium II doing 400+ degrees, it does seem a little hard to believe.

If they were in fact heating it through that hotplate, there's no way I'd be snacking on those fries!!! Mmm... plastic flavor!

that is totally sitting on a hotplate. you can see the knobs and power cord sitting under it in the 'Pick your favorite CPU intensive game' picture.
Also, a slot 1 Pentium II (or III for that matter) is _not_ a high end computer unless this is 1999

My vote: FAKE!

That computer has ISA slots and it looks like there playing Warcraft no way it would get hot enough to sustain enough heat to fry that food. Plus with as old as that may be I wouldent want to eat that food.

FAKE!

Yeah this is really funny and I would show it to a preppy no brained goof for a kick but its not real. It takes 400 degrees to fry somthing, That pentium will short out long before you could pump enough juice through it to get it over 200 degrees,

How many Watts is the PSU (250W??) ?. I use a 2KW electric heater to cook most of the food if not in the microwave oven, so having anything less than that makes you wait for a long time, and if the surface is big enought it even cools faster than you heat :) hehe! :). Here's the thing: Placing a computer in a synthetic oil (commestible oil is pretty much the same thing in these terms) filled bath provides reasonable electrical insulation but good thermal transport. Actually having one in this manner has a very good cooling surface and can never reach any significant temperature; this helps oveclocking the rig since it's true liquid cooling (not liquid boiling). If the experiment were with a Prescott 3.2GHz and only a coup of oil, I might have believed that bypassing the thermal protections you cand get the oil to heat up considerably an cook one french fry, but no more, since at above 150deg. Centigrade, the interior of the processor gets damaged and main power lines get cutoff so no current passes, no heat produced and everything stops.
FAKE !!!
ps: learn some physics before fooling others, it's good for you anyway and will prevend you from doing such idiotic statements and claims. Haaa haa 30W P-II fryer !!!!!!
