Angus Third Pounder exceeding sales goals in CA

McDonalds in Japan have had their 4 patty Mega Mac now for some time, and it looks like they're testing the waters in California. They recently released "The Angus Third Pounder", a burger that contains between 720 calories to 860 calories, and it looks like people are gobbling it up! Although it's still early days, signs seem positive. Will McDonalds go back to selling real burgers instead of salads?

Reporter, CNBC
TOLUCA LAKE, Calif. - McDonald’s is fattening up its menu, testing the concept of putting one-third of a pound of beef on a bun. It would be its biggest burger yet. The Angus Third Pounder is being tested in California. It tastes like really big, super-sized Big N' Tasty. The patty is a little bit like a bigger, better Quarter Pounder. The question is, What took so long? When it comes to so-called premium burgers, McDonald’s is following the herd.

Cadbury Creme Eggs smaller?

*GASP* Say it isn't so!!! Could it be true? Have Hershey's shrunk the Cadbury Creme Egg in a sneaky attempt to make more profit on each and every one during Easter 2007? It seems so! This video excerpt from Conan O'Brian seems to suggest that this year they've shrunk the humble Creme Egg. Shame on you Cadbury/Hershey's, shame!!! You think they would have realized people LOVE the Giant Creme Eggs!

Forget the theory of relativity, something more important has been discovered! It's the ultimate bacon sandwich formula. 1000 hours of research, and 700 different variations of the sandwich tested between 50 volunteers have declared they have found the perfect formula for that perfect bacon batty... apparently it's all in the crispyness of the bacon... (I could have told them that!)

The "King Size Creme Egg" campaign

I love Cadbury Creme Eggs... if you've never had one, you really should go and try to find some. Even though they're a nice size, this site doesn't think they're quite big enough, so they've started a campaign to create a "King Size" Creme Egg. Perhaps they should try and make their own? (here's another)

From: http://www.kingsizecremeegg.co.uk/

There's no excuse for not buying one - the only question is "How Do You Eat Yours?" (Cadbury) But however you eat yours, wouldn't it be great if there was an extra large version of that most yummy of all confectionary creations? The "King Size" Creme Egg Campaign is proposing exactly that - a Creme Egg one and a half times bigger than the standard size.

Baseball's Best Slider

The Gateway Grizzlies are at it again. After bringing us such brilliant concession items as Baseball’s Best Burger (burger topped with sharp cheddar, two slices of bacon and a sliced Krispy Kreme donut as a bun) and Baseball’s Best Hotdog (a black angus hot dog with bacon, onions and cheese sauce) the Illinois semi-pro baseball club has brought you Baseball's Best Slider. This calorie atrocity gives you a two-pack of White Castle Sliders that have been battered up and deep fried for $4. Cheese sauce on the side costs and extra buck.

The article speaks for itself:

From: http://www.cnbc.com/id/17703763

"So here’s my official review. It’s pretty awesome when it has been sitting in the studio for an hour. I can only imagine how great it is hot out of the fryer sitting at the ballpark. I couldn’t eat too much being that I’m down a gallbladder, but it basically tastes like an onion ring burger. So now what you’ve all been waiting for -- the calorie count. I didn't say this before but not only is it fried, but it's battered first. It’s just an estimate, but it looks to be around 600 calories and 40 grams of fat for the two-pack. That’s 90 percent of your daily recommended fat based on a 2,000 calorie diet. The Grizzlies open their season on May 23. "

Veteran Wall Street Journal food reporter Raymond Sokolov traveled America in search of the best hamburger and says he found the hands-down winner at Ann's Snack Bar on Memorial Drive.

Owner Ann Price's iconic "Ghetto Burger" — a double-patty bacon cheeseburger sandblasted with seasoning salt — bested dozens of better-known wimpies. Sokolov called it a "masterpiece" and "the next level of burgerhood."
