Ha! I used to own Captain Americas Hamburger Heaven! I tell you now, they just had their 20th anniversary and going strong! I have seen many a man take on the challenge burger and fail miserably. It aint the burger that will kill you but the chips...............I told them time and time again...............chips when cold are hard to digest but NO they insist on tackling the burger first! lol. I believe the record falls below the 8 minute mark now.................last I heard 7minutes and 45 seconds. Now that is serious eating. No chewing allowed. just bite and swallow. To make the challenge board you have to finish it in under an hour................now for all those science heads out there. If your stomach registers that it is full after 15 minutes........then how long you got to finish it? At the 20 minute mark you got not chance to finish it and get on the board without some major discomfort. Go on. I dare you! It aint called the Challenge for nothing!
PS. I have a photo of a 12 year old girl given to me by the original owner of Captain Americas that managed to do it in under an hour. AND she had two milkshakes with the meal. Photo circa 1990 from a scout dinner. Go figure?

Well hey all. I have actually done the challenge and I must say it was one of my most trying accomplishments. Karen is right in saying that it is the chips that will kill you. I sat on my last 2 chips for almost 15m cause they just would not go down. Although my time of 54m was not the best I was there to witness on that day Silvio smash the record. Yes my friends Silvio is one of my best mates and I have been urging him to come out of retirement and give it another go. He said he will not do it again until someone has beaten his record then he will return. peace out and happy eating
