The 1.5Kg Home Cooked Steak Challenge

After previously eating a 1KG steak with ease around a month ago, me and a friend decided to try a 1.5KG steak + sides (150 grams of potato chips and a handful of peas and corn, topped with mushroom gravy made from pan juices!) The whole meal was cooked by me and took around 50 minutes to cook, due to the thickness of the steaks. Lachlan had his steak cooked "well done" while I had mine "medium". The entire meal was finished in a mere 25 minutes by Lachlan (my friend aged 16) and 26 minutes by me, Jono aged 18.

The Supercharged Motor BBQ

Got a spare motor lying around the garage, and a need for a new BBQ? Why not make a Supercharged Motor BBQ? This guy did. It looks to be a Big Block Chevrolet, polished chrome cover, chrome air filter, plugs, and all the other good stuff that makes a motor look great. He's ripped out the guts, put in a grill plate, and fitted some gas burners. It's even got a Chevrolet Grill Plate! How good would those man-sized steaks be with a Chevvy imprint on them?

With record breaking rainfall and devastating floods, you might have thought our dismal summer would have pretty much scuppered this year's harvest. But judging from the whopping vegetables on display at the National Amateur Gardening show, the weather has not entirely put a dampener on the year's crop.
