Super Mario Bento

Might not be big in size, but it's all about the detail with this one! Made in Japan, Bento Boxes are highly detailed lunchboxes of rice and various other Japanese foodstuffs, usually for kids to take to school. This particular Bento artist made a bunch of Super Mario Bento Boxes. The detail is amazing. I wouldn't want to eat it!

A uniquely Japanese cultural phenomenon is Bento box lunches where the meal is dressed up with whimsical imagery so kids will be more inclined to eat their food. Check out this great example featuring the likeness of everyone’s favorite little Italian plumber, crafted entirely from edible items.

Brisbane's Biggest Burger Project - Super Whopper

Griffin was on a mission to create Brisbane's Biggest Burger. Inspired by the likes of Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, he set out to design, create and consume the biggest burger possible. All good things start from humble beginnings, which is why he started the project with this prototype: The Super Whopper. Fashioned from the Hungry Jacks "Whopper" (Hungry Jacks = Australian Burger King), his creation weighed in at over 5kg (11lb's). The Burgers aren't better from Hungry Jacks!

From: http://www.otca.com.au/burger1.html

Friday the 7th, I bought the rest of the ingredients needed. From Coles Sunnybank - 3 tomatos, 1 onion, 1 lettuce, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, Colby cheese (a mild cheese), pickled cucumber (not in the photo below) and hamburger helper (to help bind burger patty). From Fine Freddy's Meats at Sunnybank - 4kg of regular mince. Plus some garlic and pepper for the meat, which I already had on hand.

Home Made Bacon Vodka

Vodka. Usually a drink of choice for those looking to drop a few pounds. Low calorie, low carb, and gets you drunk. Well if you want some fat with that, why not try making some Bacon Vodka? Mmmm bacon...

I admit, I can’t remember the singular event that conspired to the creation of this bacon vodka. It came to life this Christmas and found home in a tasting kit of vodkas I made for friends and family. If you have time, bacon and vodka, you too can have this tasty elixir in your hands.

Bacon Cups

Thanks Aaron! The guys over at Not Martha have come up with a genius idea! Make little cups from bacon, then fill them with lettuce and tomato! If you remember our earlier story about the Perfect BLT then you'll relate to just how awesome this is!

From: http://www.notmartha.org/archives/2008/02/27/bacon-cups/

I had an occasion calling for bacon themed food and my mind immediately turned towards the famed bacon mat. I needed something a little more single-serving though, so I decided to attempt bacon cups. In the bacon mat instructions there is mention of draping the mat over an overturned metal bowl and cooking it so that it would turn out in as a bowl shape. I decided to try using the backs of various muffin and mini cake pans, I ran out of bacon before I got to try as many as I would have liked so I'll have to try more at a later date. Any excuse for more bacon.
