From: http://pumpkinnook.com/giants/pumpkinpierecord.htm
How big does a pumpkin pie have to be to become the world record? The current world record stands at 2,020 pounds (after baking). It was prepared and baked by the New Bremen Giant Pumpkin Growers in New Bremen, Ohio. This huge pie was made on October 8, 2005. Over 5,000 people came to witness the event.

Deep Fry Turkey Disaster!
Contributed by: Billy
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here at SupersizedMeals.com, we all want you to be safe, so here's a quick video of how not to deep fry a turkey. Although that does depend on whether you're in it for the tasty turkey, or a fireball spectacular for your buddies!

The Bacon Apple Pie Recipe

Remember the Bacon Apple Pie we posted last month? Well the inventor of this culinary masterpiece found us and let us post the recipe on the site! Behold! The Bacon Apple Pie Recipe in all its glory! If you do manage to make one yourself, take some pics and send them in, we'd love to hear about it!

My love affair with bacon is well-documented in my artwork. Living la vida loca of the Starving Art Student leads one to seek ever cheaper substitutes for proper nutrition. The local Cash & Carry willingly obliges by selling 15-lb flats of bacon for $0.87 a pound, making it the cheapest meat available in the region. Despite much eye-rolling and finger-shaking by my peers that I’d suffer eighty-seven heart attacks in a year with all the bacon I eat, I’ve actually lost ten pounds and my cholesterol is so depressingly normal that it’s too boring to write about. Meanwhile, my neighbors have dubbed my dwelling-place The House That Bacon Built.

German Science Show creates 329kg (725lb) Burger
Contributed by: Billy
Big thanks to one of our German readers Christoph for sending this one in! It's the story of a German Science TV Show called Galileo, and their attempt at making a Mega-Burger. Not your run-of-the-mill MegaBurger though, no no, the Germans do things BIG, REAL BIG. So big in fact that they engineered a structure to hold the Burger Patty just inches from the heat source for cooking, and then used this structure to flip the burger perfectly. An amazing engineering feat! They go through the process of research (using SupersizedMeals.com!), planning, preparation, cooking, and finally eating. My German isn't the best, so I really don't know much about what they're saying, only that the bun is 170cm wide and weighs 140kg's, the patty is also 170cm wide and weighs 243kg's, with fixin's, the total burger weight cooked was 329kg's!
