'Black Widow' destroys chicken wings
Contributed by: Billy
On Saturday, seasoned competitive eater Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas won the 2007 National Buffalo Wing Festival by eating 5.17 pounds of wing meat in 12 minutes. Organisers say that's about equivalent to 173 wings! Local poultry have taken industrial action and are refusing to lay any more eggs until she is out of Buffalo...

From the professional to the earnest amateur, thousands of chicken wing eaters of all shapes, sizes and colors stood red-faced in the sun as the sixth annual national Buffalo Wing Festival opened Saturday in Dunn Tire Park. And as it turned out, one of the smallest of them all walked away as the national chicken wing eating champion.

Possibly one of the greatest events in sports history, this is the view of the contest from a prime spot in the audience, much better than ESPN

Boy in court for throwing cocktail sausage
Contributed by: Billy
Who would have thought throwing a mini cocktail sausage could get you into so much trouble? A 74 year old man reported the boy to the police because he thought the boy had thrown a rock at him. Turns out it was manufactured meat. Because the kid had been in trouble before with the law, they had to charge him.
"What are you in here for?"
"Murder, you?"
"Throwing a sausage.."

A 12-YEAR-OLD British boy appeared in court charged with assault for throwing a sausage at a pensioner, police said. The boy's mother described the decision to charge her son as “an absolute joke”, although police said they had no choice. The youth, who can't be named, was arrested after a 74-year-old man reported him to police for throwing a stone in Manchester, northern England.

World's Largest Tuna (325Kg) landed by NZ Fisherman
Contributed by: Billy
What would you do with a 325Kg (716.5lb) Blue Fin Tuna? For the person that caught it, Steve McCowan, he believes "It'll probably be going on a wall somewhere". Apparently large Blue Fin Tuna fetch a hefty price in Japan, I wonder how much the World Record would go for?

A 325kg Pacific blue fin tuna, believed to be a world record, was caught off New Zealand's South Island West Coast on Sunday. At 6am angler Steve McCowan knew he had a big one on the line. "I certainly knew it was a big one two-and-a-half hours later," he said.

Contributed by: Billy
Nick’s Hamburger Shop in Brookings recently had it's Nickburger record broken by an unknown eater. Brandon Brody, a 19-year-old Brookings resident crushed the previous record by 10 burgers. He's also claimed to have eaten 15 McChickens in one sitting! Will we hear more from this eater in the future? Lets hope so!

On Monday, the burger-eating record didn't just get broken at Nick's Hamburger Shop – it was devoured. A 19-year-old Brookings resident, Brandon Brody, started eating burgers at 11a.m. and one hour later became the Nick's world record-holder as he took the last bite of his 34th hamburger. That's 10 more than the last time somebody set out to challenge all the Nick's-eaters who'd gone before, a stunning accomplishment.

Mustang made from 5,000 beer cans
Contributed by: Billy
5000 Cans of Beer, now that's what I call commitment! This arts student collected (drank?) 5,000 beer cans and created a full-sized Ford Mustang in the hope that he'd win a real one from Budweiser. I wonder if he won? It'd look great parked next to a Hummer made from Bubble Gum!

Like all good students Jack Kirby collected his beers cans. Unlike most good students the art and design student actually found a use for them.

Double Pounder a McDonald's heart-stopper
Contributed by: Billy
Looks like News.com.au doesn't like the idea of "The Double Pounder", a McDonalds Quarter Pounder with 8 patties. They've recently reported on the phenomenon and likened it to "a heart attack waiting to happen". The article stemmed from a video we wrote about a few weeks ago of a 17yr old guy downing one of these McTowers, you can check out the video here... Haven't News.com.au heard the jingle though? We're lovin' it!!!

MONSTER-SIZED McDonald's hamburgers stuffed with up to eight meat patties and nine slices of cheese have been slammed as "a heart attack waiting to happen". Some of the fast-food chains sell super-sized Quarter Pounders, which contain about 220g of fat and 11,500kJ each, on request. The "double pounder" is the equivalent of more than three days' worth of fat for a grown man - or almost five Pizza Hut deep-pan Hawaiian pizzas or 45 Tim Tams.

MegaMac returns to Japan
Contributed by: Billy
McDonalds Japan has re-released their "MegaMac", a Supersized 4 patty Big Mac weighing in at 10oz. Following a very successful test launch earlier in the year resulting in stores selling out of meat and buns, McDonalds sorted out their logistical problems and have put it back on the menu. With all the anti-fast-food-hype lately though, I wonder if it will make it to stores other than those in Japan?
