Giant Pig, Katherine, NT, Australia

Decided to have a few of those Darwin Stubbies when staying in the Northern Territory? Just make sure that if you pass out, you pass out in a hotel or someone's house. This catch, while not a meal (yet), sure would have made for a huge pig-on-the-spit! (thanks Juddy for emailing this one in!)

This monster was caught 300 km south of Katherine. They only caught it bacause their pig-hunting dogs were disappearing...then found this pig was eating them! Suggestion! If you intend to visit the NT and camp out, make sure you sleep in the vehicle.....and if you have a dog, lock it in also.

The Darwin Stubby

Uniquely Australian, the "Darwin Stubby" is well known for its sheer size and volume of beery goodness. Up to a whopping 2.25 litres, you don't need a 6 pack of these to get hammered! Could be the perfect accompaniment to some of the Supersized Meals in here I reckon!

In 1956 CUB set up the first brewery in Darwin. The first local beer, Carlton Draught, was brewed on 13 October of that year. Bottled CUB beer continued to be shipped from Melbourne. Because of the logistics of shipping bottles such a long distance, it was decided that a bigger bottle would be used – a 2.25 litre giant which became known as the “Darwin Stubby”.

Andrea and the 9lb Burger

This burger creation seems to have a bit of research behind it. Check out the photos of the blackboard. They go into restaurant etiquette, when to bring your own drinks, and what looks to me like an evil Mayor McCheese!??! Crazy, but a great looking 2 patty 9lb burger though!

Defcon 13 and the 35 Patty Burger
Every year, a bunch of IT guys get together for what's known as "Defcon", a hacker convention talking about hardware and software hacks/mods/techniques, and other fun stuff. Last year at Defcon 13, one guy was challenged to eat a 35 Patty In 'n' Out Burger to raise funds for The Hacker Foundation. It a tough job, but someone's gotta raise those funds!

Kobayashi vs the Giant Bear

[from eatfeats.com] Perhaps not so much the meal itself being supersized, but rather the contestant. Kobayashi was put up against a Giant Alaskan Kodiak bear in a hot dog eating competition. This bear stands over 8 feet tall, and weighs in at 1089 pounds. Who do you think is going to win this battle?

Lowenbrau's giant pork schnitzel, The Rocks, Sydney
A relatively large schnitzel from a place in Sydney, Australia, called "Lowenbrau Keller". Not too bad for AU$27, considering the location. Could be bigger, but worth a mention...

From: http://grabyourfork.blogspot.com/2006/07/lowenbrau-keller-at-rocks-sydney.html

Lowenbrau is, of course, down at The Rocks, an area more commonly frequented by American tourists and busloads of Chinese businessmen. I'd been past the Lowenbrau plenty of times, but the idea of lederhosen, busty wenches and Oktoberfest-merriness always seemed to have the words Tourist Trap plastered all over it.
