New York home to $175 hamburger

Seems New York is the place to get your Gold Flake fix. Remember the $25,000 dessert?. Well while this isn't quite as expensive as that, it's still got the bling. It's got a Kobe beef patty, lots of black truffles, seared foie gras, aged Gruyere cheese, wild mushrooms and flecks of gold leaf on a brioche bun. Apparently for those special days where you've had a great day on Wall Street!

7,000 Calorie Vending Machine Challenge

One Man. One Vending Machine, 29 items, 7,000 Calories. Could one man consume the entire contents of this vending machine? (Warning: Video is about 2:30mins too long)

From: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26Pl_Mf3p9I

After hearing about a woman who ate one of each vending machine snack to total 32 snack items and 7,000+ calories in a day, I couldn't resist giving the challenge a shot (especially after being dared). I didn't have enough dollar bills to buy every item so I purchased what I can to try and get past the 7,000 calorie mark.

Overall it was a fun challenge. I usually stick with my favorite snacks but this got me to try new items. The most interesting item (not necessarily best tasting) was the Burger King Chips. I wish they made it taste more like the Whopper rather than ketchup and fries.

Pizza Beer Crust Pizza

lolwut? As if having a pizza flavored beer isn't enough, now they're putting the pizza flavored beer into a pizza crust! Does that mean it has twice as much pizza flavor as well as some tasty beery goodness? Who knows. All I know is that it sounds most awesome, and it apparently happened last Sunday! Anyway, beside that, Pizza Beer. That's what this post is mostly about...

From: http://www.mammamiapizzabeer.com

"Pizza Beer" was developed Labor Day, 2006 by Tom and Athena Seefurth in our home brewery in Campton Township, IL. It all started with a surplus of tomatoes, a bag of garlic & an idea that started early in the spring when we planted our garden herbs. The goal was to create a beer that would pair with a wide variety of foods, especially our favorite, Pizza! In the end, we were pleasantly surprised that this "mess" turned out to be the best thing since the guy with chocolate that bumped into Ralph Mouth & mixed up the chocolate with the peanut butter! Indeed, the world will love "Pizza Beer".

Jordan vs The Super Donkey

The title doesn't give much away, does it? The "Super Donkey" isn't a furry, luggage carrying animal, it is in fact a gigantic burrito! In this episode of "Can Jordan Do It", we see whether he can down "The Donkey" in one sitting. Does Jordan have the guts, or is he being an ass? (hahah, oh I crack myself up sometimes)

It may be the biggest burrito the Tex-Mex world has ever seen.. and it may be the only time you'll get to see it eaten. Here is another episode of Jordan def-Eating another threat.

The "Ultimate" Double Whopper?

Unfortunately Australians don't get the Burger King Quad Stacker.... most don't even know what an Ocho is. The best they've had so far is the Hungry Jacks "Ultimate Double Whopper" (with bacon). As Alex points out, it doesn't quite stack up to what's posted in their marketing material. Then again, does it ever look like what's advertised?

Via Email from Alex

The story starts when I walked past the local HJ's (Burger King) and noticed this sign. "Sounds OK" I thought to myself as I wandered in and ordered a large meal (with onion rings instead of fries). When I got it it was certainly heavy enough, with the paper only just managing to stretch over the burger (I'd ordered extra bacon and cheese.) Disapointingly, I finished the burger in 4 minutes and 2 seconds of leisurely eating, with the rest of the meal being taken care of in about 6 and a half. I don't know what they were on about, but this was disappointing. I was hoping that with the tag "can you handle it", and almost a day's worth of calories, it would involve a challenge of some sort. Shame on you Hungry Jacks.

Brisbane's Biggest Burger Project - Super Whopper

Griffin was on a mission to create Brisbane's Biggest Burger. Inspired by the likes of Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, he set out to design, create and consume the biggest burger possible. All good things start from humble beginnings, which is why he started the project with this prototype: The Super Whopper. Fashioned from the Hungry Jacks "Whopper" (Hungry Jacks = Australian Burger King), his creation weighed in at over 5kg (11lb's). The Burgers aren't better from Hungry Jacks!

From: http://www.otca.com.au/burger1.html

Friday the 7th, I bought the rest of the ingredients needed. From Coles Sunnybank - 3 tomatos, 1 onion, 1 lettuce, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, Colby cheese (a mild cheese), pickled cucumber (not in the photo below) and hamburger helper (to help bind burger patty). From Fine Freddy's Meats at Sunnybank - 4kg of regular mince. Plus some garlic and pepper for the meat, which I already had on hand.
