The Seattle Wall of Gum
Contributed by: Billy
You can't eat gum while watching a show... the chewing sounds would probably drive your theater neighbours crazy. So while waiting to enter the the Market Theater in Post Alley at Pike Place Public Market, theater goers needed somewhere to put their gum once the doors opened. Bins? Bah! Instead they started to simply place it on the wall. Over time, the Theater got fed up cleaning the wall, and this artpiece was born. The Great Seattle Wall of Gum!

The Market Theater in Post Alley at Pike Place Public Market is a photographers dream. Bright colors , tons of textures, and interesting photo ops abound. You would think it's we're talking about the theater but the art is outside. Over the years a tradition has built up that people put their gum on the wall while waiting in line to enter the theater. It has become such a huge mural that the theater has given up cleaning the gum up and below are the results. It has exploded from simply people leaving their gum into a giant "gum art" exhibit that extends into the alleys. Check out the photos below to get a feel for how much gum is on the wall and some of the "art " that has been created.

The Eternal Candy Ball
Contributed by: Billy
[via Neatorama] A candy the size of a small football would take quite a while to eat, so the creators decided to film it! This time-lapse video shows the creators/artists Mai Yamashita and Naoto Kobayashi eating the giant candy over a 6 month period. I hope they brushed afterwards!
From: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQyPnGz3CtM
The project began on the day that Yamashita and Kobayashi created a giant candy the size of a football (18cm in diameter). From that day they kept licking the candy day after day for about six months, with the aim of creating an ordinary candy, the kind you can buy on the market. The video work, shot with the artists in profile, records this process. While they were licking, the landscape in the background changed from snowy winter to summer.

A Hummer made out of Gum!
Contributed by: Billy
Looking for a bit more color in your Hummer? Why not try skinning your Hummer with gum! Better not park it near a school though...

Sugar Coated, 2004, [Exporting Liberty]
This life-sized gum-ball covered HumVee comments on pop culture and reminds us of soldiers handing candy to children in far-flung countries at war with us. The palette of the gum balls reappears in The Candychromes.

The World's Largest Homemade Bacon Cheesburger
Contributed by: Billy
A mighty claim to be sure! We all know about Denny's and the Clinton Station Diner's efforts, but what about those home made attempts at Supersized Burgers? The Homemade 96'er comes in close, but I think this one is bigger... This one weighed in at 120lb's, but it was for a competition, so does that count? Could this in fact be the World's Largest non-commercially available Home Made Burger? It sure looks pretty big to me!

Australia's Largest Lollipop destroyed in fire
Contributed by: Billy
A Supersized tragedy... Australia's largest lollipop has been destroyed in a fire in the northern Victorian town of Echuca. Even though the store sustained damages of around $500,000, I'm surprised just how well the lollipop looked at the end of the blaze! I suppose it makes sense, it's melted sugar...

Australia lost its largest lollipop in a store fire in the northern Victorian town of Echuca.
The fire started in the heritage-listed Echuca Heritage Sweet Company at 4am. It damaged two adjacent shops and led to the evacuation of 14 guests from a local bed and breakfast in the heritage-listed area of the town.

Maks makes the Bacon Cheese Bacon Burger!
Contributed by: Billy
You may remember Maks from such earlier creations as The Ultimate Bacon Sandwich, or his famous Bacon Cereal. Well, the professor of Pork is at it again, and this time he's created the Bacon Cheese Bacon Burger! Much like you'd mince beef to create a burger patty, Maks makes the patty from 100% pure bacon!
From: http://www.speakeasy.org/~sjmaks/bcb/
...I struggled for months wondering how I could possibly top Bacon Cereal. It can't be done, I thought. Not possible. Then it finally hit me: A bacon burger. No, not a hamburger with bacon on it, but a burger whose base is ground bacon instead of ground beef. It's often been said that there's a fine line between genius and insanity. I think I've blurred that line this time around.

The Bionic Burger
Contributed by: Billy
There once was a man who forgot he'd put a burger in his jacket pocket for 12 months. When he put on that jacket again and found the burger, he was amazed that the burger hadn't changed, and that it looked and smelt the same as it did a year before. Thus was the story of the Bionic Burger, and for 18 years, he's been time-capsuling these burgers for future reference...

True story about a man who's been saving hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and Big Macs from McDonalds for over 18 years... and they look EXACTLY the same!
Brefiss o'champs
Contributed by: sKramble
i was at a gala event with free flowing grey goose and tux doods shuttling trays of ordirvs. the finger foods didn't dilute the booze too much and by the time we were taken to the afterparty, i was only taking controlled small sips while noshing on sushi.
somewhat prudent (ahem, B.S.) libation rewarded me with the mildest of hangovers in the morning. i celebrated with a brefiss sandwich made on a gourmet toasted baguette slathered with cream cheese (more brefissy than mayo...it worked!), and stuffed with roma tomatoes, fried eggs, and a half pound of bacon. i made two of these monstrosities, and my two sisters could only eat 3/4's of the other one. i reluctantly (ahem, B.S.) volunteered to finish it off...it was so tasty!

Scott Kendall and the In 'n' Out 12x12
Contributed by: Billy
When in San Francisco, do what Californians do and visit your local In 'n' Out for a tasty burger. This time though, Scott thought he'd try his hand at a tasty 12x12.... 12 beef patty's, 12 slices of cheese, all in one convenient burger package. He looks pretty happy to me!
