While on the subject of Bacon, I thought I'd show you a more interesting use for it, with popcorn! Bacon's salty right? Well, salt and popcorn go well together, so surely bacon and popcorn should too?!?!

Popcorn is just the thing. And when popped in an air popper (didn't everyone have one of those in college?) it can really be almost healthy...and definitely boring. Bacon, such a magical meat. You can have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can make caramel out of it. And once you're covered in bits of bacon from your eating adventures, now you can clean yourself with it! That's right, this guy managed to figure out how you can make soap out of the fat from bacon. It's even shaped like a bacon strip!

Soap can be made from just about any kind of fat. Even though fat from bacon, called lard, isn't the finest of fats to use for making soap, it somehow seemed to be the most exciting. Why? Because bacon is amazing. It has an almost mystical power to it and is a food that can be craved to almost no end. Shizuoka Meat Producers of Shizuoka, Japan and the All-Japan Bread Association had a mission. To create the World's Longest Hot Dog! Armed with a 50m conveyor, the dough was moved along the conveyor through the oven so it would be baked in one continuous section. The Hot Dog itself was pre-made and stored in a large plastic barrel prior to the event. Once the bun was baked, the hot dog was placed, and voila! The World's Longest Hot Dog!

On August 4, 2006 a hot dog measuring 60m in a bun measuring 60.3m was made by the Shizuoka Meat Producers of Shizuoka, Japan and the All-Japan Bread Association to obtain the world record. International media was onhand, and supporting documents have been verified by Guinness. The hot dog was made as the central part of a media event surrounding the 50th anniversary of the All-Japan Bread Association.
