Japanese kids make a 100kg Cheeseburger

[via EatFeats] Could this be the largest burger ever made? (well, by kids at least) It weighs in at a total of 220lbs, and has a diameter of 80cm (32 inches)! A few Japanese children got together (with a few adults of course), and created it for a Japanese TV show. The only one anywhere near this big that comes to mind is the Clinton Station Diner's "The 8th Wonder", but at a measly 100lbs (45kg's), it isn't even half as big as this one! Again, I really don't know much Japanese, so if any of our readers could translate the statistics for us all, it would be much appreciated!

The 85 Euro Burger, Madrid, Spain

Falling into the category of one of the most expensive burgers available, this 85 Euro Burger has only the finest ingredients... The review doesn't sound too bad, although you'd expect a pretty special burger for that many $$'s!!

From: http://www.sugarvine.com/Europe/reviews/review_detail.asp...

The best meat restaurant in Madrid is now offering the world's most expensive hamburger, outdoing even famous London restaurant, Zuma. The burger at Estik is better! Wagyu beef, "pata negra" tomatoes, confit shallots and garlic and home-baked olive oil enriched bun....you will never forget this burger biting experience! Fab atmosphere, fantastic service, this place really does have it all.

Pandasmash and the Taco Bell Eat-Off

The guys over at PandaSmash.com have an event called "The Idi0lympics", where they challenge each other to basically do stupid stuff. In this challenge, they've got to eat $15 worth of Taco Bell food. Rules are that you can order anything you want off the menu, but you can only order a maximum of two of the same item. One of the guys, AJ, seems to think $15 isn't much.... he was wrong ;)

Can't embed the video unfortunately, so check out the link

The Wildman Burger Challenge, Mulu, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo

For this challenge, we travel to the picturesque region of Malaysian Borneo. This one has some history too! Many moons ago, a tribe returned to the village with what we now know as a "Bun". After placing meat inside the bun, the tribe went wild! Thus is the story of the Wildman Burger. Oh, and the Challenge: To eat the entire Wildman Burger by yourself. The prize is a certificate, a photo, and of course, the glory... maybe there's some sort of ancient level or respect as well... or something...

"Bogus Jimmy" wrote - I've just returned from a 2 week tour of Malaysia and amongst other things, I found a new meal challenge. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to do it because I would never be back there again. It was at the Royal Mulu Resort, in the tiny town of Mulu, right on the Melinau River, in Sarawak, the southern state of Malaysian Borneo. I didn't actually stay at the resort, but much more basic accomodation across the river, I was just there to have a few cold Tiger beers and a meal when I saw the Massive Wildman Burger Challenge.

McDonalds Dollar Menu Challenge in 4 minutes

[via EatFeats] Ian "The Invader" Hickman (MTV True Life star) downs all of the items on the McDonalds Dollar Menu in under 4 minutes. From what I can see, the McDonalds Dollar Menu consists of a Side Salad, McChicken, Fruit 'n' Yoghurt Parfait, Two Hot Apple Pies, Double Cheeseburger, Fries, Hot Fudge Sundae, and a Soft Drink. I dunno.... hard to say whether they were all on the table at the start of the challenge or not.... A few of his buddies had a go as well, needless to day, they took a bit longer than 4 minutes...

A cheese challenge from the Suiss! (Well, he's actually Australian, but anyway...) The challenge was to eat a half a wheel of cheese by itself, nothing else. Only a few pics, but wow, could you eat that much cheese?

David Kuo and the University Chicken 911 Challenge
Following on from our earlier story on the 911 Chicken Wing Challenge at University Chicken, San Jose, David Kuo attempts the challenge, his friends taking a video of the occasion.... What can I say, these things look damn hot...and it is pretty damn funny to watch too!

From: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JJgoj8e6q8I

David Kuo attempts to eat University Chicken's 911 hot wings. This is not the official challenge of 12 in 10 minutes, but it's still video gold.

The Big Nugget Off 2004

"Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor is without a doubt the most widely used backing song in eating challenge videos. This video is no exception. Even with the cheesy music, this eating competition has merit! The Challenge: Eat as many chicken nuggets as possible to be crowned champion. And at 65 nuggets, Anthony wins! Not quite as many as the McNugget McMaster, but a worthy effort no doubt!

Taco Hell

Nothing brings friends together more than a good ol' eating competition. With the ThinkYouCanCompete.com Taco Throwdown #1 fast approaching, I thought it might be fitting to see just how painful the consumption of mucho tacos can be. Fourteen tacos and one gordita later, they had a winner.

From: http://www.whatever-whenever.net/taco1.html

Part One: The Challenge
Last night I finally took on Zen Matt in the long-promised taco eating competition. My friends all said I was crazy to do it, and it's true, my reasons for doing so were sketchy at best. I've generally been responding to queries with: "Well I'm a Midwesterner. We like food. We like competitions. It's the best of both worlds." But secretly I was hoping I would be good at this, that there might be an untapped talent there. I've never been good at sports, and I've never had the smarts to be, say, a chess champion. I'm good at Scrabble, but not great. But eating, well, I've always been good at eating. Maybe this could be my thing. Maybe I would finally find myself a home.
